Friday Fun!

Eliana and I had a pleasure of helping my friend Ali with her boys, Robertson and Simeon. Ellie always loves it when friends come over, and she and Roberston had a great time together. Simeon is such a great baby! He was fine with Eliana "making his hair pretty." It was fun.

Eliana's First Board Game!

Eliana's had so much fun with her new board game. It only takes about 10 minutes to play a game and she enjoys matching the colors, shapes, and ofcourse spinning! She always wants to be Tyrone. Here, Eliana and her friend Roberston are playing the Backyardigans game.

Picnic at the Farm!

Grace Bible Church had a picnic last Sunday after church at Hunt Club Farm. We invited our friends Karen and Tony with their kids Lauren and Eric. We had a great time with our families!

Cuteism

I turned on the baby monitor this afternoon to hear if Eliana was really sleeping. Here's what I heard:

"What's your name?"
"Eliana"
"That's a good name!"
"What's your full name?"
"Eliana Jean Perkins"
"Wow! What a good name that is!"
"What's your name?"
"Giraffe."
"Hi Giraffe."
"Will you be my friend?"
etc...
Ever wish that baby monitors were able to record audio? I often do. I think it would be so cool if I could push a button from my kitchen and record what Ellie's saying in her room. I wonder if there is such a thing...
(Eliana has a pretty cool stuffed giraffe in her bed that her uncle Jason gave her. It unfolds into a blanket.)

Happy Mother's Day!

I gotta say, being a mom is the best thing ever. What an incredible blessing to be entrusted a life to help mold, shape and grow, and what an awesome responsibility. I am so grateful.

Some nice thoughts:
"Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body." ~Elizabeth Stone
"Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children." ~Charles R. Swindoll, The Strong Family
"Healthy families are our greatest national resource." - Dolores Curran
And to leave you with a laugh:
"Mothers are fonder than fathers of their children because they are more certain they are their own." ~Aristotle
Am I the only one that laughed? :)

Special Treat!

I thought I was bad, but Eliana has a serious sweet tooth. We have Halloween to thank. She starts asking for "special treats" first thing in the morning, and continues to ask off and on throughout the day. I can usually distract her and put it off until after dinner. Even then, her treat is usually something small like an m&m for each hand.
But when I was at Walmart yesterday, I couldn't pass up these tiny cones. A truly "special treat".

Our Weekend...

We had a full, fun weekend.
Saturday morning was the Crisis Pregnancy Center's Walk for Life at the Norfolk Zoo. We had a fun time seeing the animals and the Esperat Family. We were a little rushed, unfortunately, so we didn't spend as much time at the zoo as Eliana and I would have liked, but it was on to the next thing!

Saturday afternoon I attended a baby shower for a friend, and Sunday afternoon, I hosted a baby shower for a friend!
I don't remember where I got the fruit salad baby carriage idea from, but I've made it before for a baby shower and it's always a big hit. It's really not hard to make. It would have looked better with a longer melon, but it's too early in the season.
